Young Drivers more Confident

Over 70% of young drivers think they're better than new drivers, suggests a recent survey by the road safety charity, Institute of Advanced Road users (IAM). Yet they are two times more likely to be involved in a road accident themselves.

Northern Ireland has Britain's most confident drivers, where 87% think they are better, yet interestingly only make up 26 % of those involved in road crashes. The least confident drivers are in Wales where just 56% think they are better compared to average.

There were other findings: 75% of young male drivers think that they're actually better than the average driver 68 % of young women think there're better than average driver As opposed to the confidence of younger individuals, official figures show that:

While only 8 % of drivers are under 25, they also make up a staggering 22 % of considerable injuries and also fatal crashes. In 2012, nearly a quarter of all car drivers were of a young age. This should tell it's own story and highlight the dangers of certain attitudes of young drivers.
